Information About Dish :

Kulithachi Pithi (Pithi Made From Horse Gram Flour) is a very popular dish in Konkan region. Kulithachi Pithi is widely used in villages, in rural areas, to be eaten with soft rice instead of daal. This dish is very nutritious for our health. Along with soft rice, we can also make Kulithachi Pithi and pickles as part of our daily meal. Since Kulithachi Pithi is a quick dish, it also saves time in making daal and Kulithachi Pithi can be tasted with hot and soft luscious rice.

When housewives get bored of cooking daal with rice, Kulithachi Pithi is a very quick and instant tasty and nutritious food. The hot and delicious Kulithachi Pithi tastes excellent with soft rice.

Ingredients :

1) Oil
2) Half Finely Chopped Onion
3) Turmeric
4) Spice
5) Salt
6) Water
7) Two Bowls Of Finely Ground Kulith Grain Flour

Procedure :

1) First take a big pot.
2) Pour one to two teaspoons of oil into the bowl. When the oil is slightly hot, over low flame add half finely chopped onion in it. Fry onion in oil till it turns red.
3) After frying onion in oil, add a pinch of turmeric powder, half or more teaspoon of spice depending on how much acrid you want. In tempering (spices) saute turmeric and masala in reddish onion for properly mixing.
4) After frying ingredients in tempering, pour half a glass of water in it.
5) Then add two bowls of finely ground Kulith grain flour, stirring with a spoon to mix the flour well in pot water. When mixing flour, take special care that no lumps of flour remain in it. Feel that the Pithi looks too thick, add a little water and stir well.
6) After mixing the pithi properly, add salt to taste. Slowly increase the flame, then the pithi will start to boil.
7) Putting Kulithachi Pithi over high flame it can overflow, invert the spoon in pot so that it does not overflow and will boiled properly. Once the Kulithachi Pithi is well boiled, carefully remove the spoon with the help of handkerchief and turn off the gas.
8) After boiling for 5 to 7 minutes, the flour in Pithi will cook properly and not too thin but not too thick and medium quality, delicious, tasty and hot Kulithachi Pithi will be ready to eat with soft rice.
